Industrial Engineering
The Department of Industrial Engineering (IE) of Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) was established in 2000. We work in a variety of research directions, including: operation research, production & service systems, quality & reliability, mechatronics engineering, robotics, biology engineering and electrical engineering and so on. With the distinguished faculty, student and staff, the IE department is one of the best departments for the IE education of China.
There are 37 faculties in our department, including 10 professors, 15 associate professors and 10 assistant professors. The department enrolls more than 20 doctoral students and 50 master students each year. Faculty members have won many significant awards, including the National Teaching Master of China, the New Century Talent of the Ministry of Education (MOE), the University Young Teacher Award of MOE. Textbooks written by our faculty members are widely applied in the teaching process of industrial engineering, mechatronics engineering and electrical engineering.
Our department offers undergraduate degrees majored in Mechachornics Engineering, Industrial Engineering. Our master program includes Mechachornics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Management Science and Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Theory and New Technology of Electrical Engineering. We also offer Ph.D. degrees in Mechachornics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Management Science and Engineering. We educate students to obtain solid skills and broad knowledge to be an effective professional in the field of industrial engineering.
The department has received millions of fundings from industry and government to support research projects, such as National Natural Science Foundation of China, Hi-Tech 863 program, Aeronautical Science Foundation of China, Doctoral Fund of MOE, et al. Many excellent papers have been published by faculties on international journals, such as “IEEE Tractions on Reliability”, “Reliability Engineering and System Safety”, “International Journal of Computer Integrated Manufacturing”, “International Journal of Robotics and Computer Integrated Manufacturing”, “IEEE Tractions on Engineering Management”, “International Journal of Production Research” and so on.
In the research process, we have built broad collaborations with many world famous universities, including University of California Berkeley, University of Alberta, University of Strathclyde, Denmark University of Technology, University of Technology of Troyes, University of Vaasa, Ecole Centrale Paris, University of Hongkong, University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, University of Texas at San Antonio and so on. Students in our department will enjoy a lot of opportunities for international exchange.
